Student council and class officer elections will be held online on June 5th.

Any student who wishes to run for a student council or class office should complete this form (https://forms.gle/tMrQnvbNLSZbbt8u9) before 5 pm, May 29th, to declare their candidacy. To access this form, you will have to log in using your school email.

Candidates will be expected to present their ideas in the form of a brief speech (2 to 5 minutes) at a class meeting during the week of June 1st to June 5th. Each class meeting will take place over Zoom at the following times:

Freshmen class meeting: Monday June 1st, 11 am

Sophomore class meeting: Tuesday June 2nd, 11 am

Junior class meeting: Wednesday June 3rd, 1 pm

These speeches will be recorded, so any student who is unable to attend the live meeting can watch the recorded version at rhinebeckreality.com at any time that is convenient.

Friday June 5th is election day. At 10 am on June 5th, 9th, 10th, and 11th graders will receive a link to their ballot in their school email inbox. You should submit your ballot before 11:59 PM on June 5th.

If you’re considering running for office, here is more information about the positions that are available:

Each class traditionally has four class officers: a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. Class officers are in charge of class business. For example, junior class officers organize prom.

In addition to class officers, there are four student council officers: a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. Student council officers (usually upperclassmen) are responsible for organizing weekly student council meetings and some school-wide events. For example, student council officers are in charge of planning Hawk Day.

For more information about the responsibilities associated with each position, see Student Council’s Constitution.

If you have any questions about the election process, please contact Student Council Adviser Mr. Moor at [email protected].
