World Peace
Poem by Joslan Carter
——————————————
World Peace.
Clear as air
Completely silent
A possibility
Yet we choose to ignore it.
Brings happiness and calm
Would help us thrive
But then again, we act as if it is an impossible concept
World peace
Forever kindness
Flourishing humanity
In our grasp
But we won’t let it penetrate the walls we’ve surrounded ourselves with.
Won’t let it seep into our skin
Let it soak into our veins
Travel through our blood to our brains;
To our hearts.
Instead, we choose blood that is shed, not infused
We choose hatred,
We choose violence,
We choose death.
All over calm
All over our brightest future
Over love.
