What’s one of your favorite memories from high school?
I have so many! Most recently, during one of my lunch periods we played duck duck goose with another but didn’t tell them what we were doing so it was really funny. A lot of the memories I have from school are about the people in school, not so much as school itself, so it’s hard to find a specific point with one good memory. Last year’s spring pep rally was really fun because everyone got to hear Ms. Grande do karyoke to Abba songs.
What advice do you have for incoming freshmen?
High school goes by extremely fast, so many underclassmen just can’t wait to be a senior and get out but the “getting out” part of highschool comes so fast and is actually quite bittersweet when it happens. Since this year we didn’t have a traditional end of the highschool, I’d tell freshmen to make every moment of highschool last by making every moment important. You may be sitting through AP Global in grade 9 begging for the bell to ring or you may be rolling your eyes through gym homework, but even the parts of school that you think are pointless will stay with you through your high school career and you may even miss them when it’s time to graduate. By the time you graduate you’ll have grown up with the people around you and you’kl have affected them and they’ll have affected you so make every moment you have with your friends count. You get through the boring or tough parts of school because you have people and friends there with you. So don’t wish for it all to be over. Live in the present and look around at the people who are going to be part of your life for the next four years and beyond.
What was your favorite class that you took in high school?
Economics and Participation in Government because Mr. Lavazzo is one of the best teachers I’ve ever learned from.
Who do you want to thank for making your high school experience better?
My friends-because when I struggled with something, there was a chance someone else struggled too and we could work through our issues together. My friends and I have gone through all the highs and lows together and they’re the ones who make me love being in school and knowing I’m going to see my friends makes Mondays happy and the end of this year sad. My friends are my encouragement and motivation to do better and be better and feel good about being in school.
What’s your favorite place in the high school?
There’s a lot of cool places in school but being up on the cat walks above the auditorium is really cool. I also love the art rooms. I’ve yet to find a secret passageway in the school that leads somewhere cool though.
What was your favorite year of high school?
Senior year until school closed.
What is your proudest high school achievement?
Going from a new student with no friends to having leadership roles in school clubs and having a friend group that I love.
What’s your favorite quarantine activity?
Gross. I’ve gotten bored with everything I usually like doing (reading, TV, arts and crafts). But probably sewing masks for people who need them in the community. It’s a combination of my sewing hobby and my love for volunteer work.
What’s your favorite song?
Excuse me? Grace Ellis I know you’re behind this survey and I know you know I don’t have a single favorite song. Let’s see…I love La Pluie (one of Mr. Welch’s chasons), One Day More when Declan sings all 9 parts, Pebble Beach (it’s a Vince Guarldi Song)…so many others
What’s your favorite movie/TV show?
Come on Grace. Movie: Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown (maybe?), Leap Year, so many others. TV Show: All Micheal Shur shows, B99, Parks and Rec, the Office, and Heartland and Shark Tank
What are your plans for the future?
I’m studying Animal Science at University Connecticut and then going to pursue a Veterinary Medical Degree and open a private equine performance technology clinic and work with sport horses and hopefully make millions of dollars on technology that can prolong the athletic career of sport horses and do that for a really long time and maybe retire in a Greek Island Yachting community where I can sell Happy Dinosaur stickers until I die.
