Rhinebeck Reality’s goal is to create a space where students can speak freely and have a chance to give their opinions on a movie or world-wide issues.

This year, the Rhinebeck Reality team is composed of seniors, juniors, and sophomores, but anyone can join the class. If you can’t join the class this year no worries! Our club meets after school on Thursdays in room 142 (the writing center), the advisor of the Rhinebeck Reality club is Sarah Wheeler. Sarah also teaches the Media Communications class and all English 12 classes.

This year we have a trio of leaders for our newspaper. Olivia Selby, Ryan Milne and Alejandra Dickens are all seniors this year and have written for the school newspaper consecutively throughout their high school careers.

When asked to speak on leadership roles Alejandra said, “I think it’s really great to have the work split three ways, it’s a lot less pressure.”

There are many new faces joining the team, like sophomore Ezra Steinman. Ezra was asked what he thought of the workload for media communications saying, “The class of media communications and newspaper feel pretty easy, everything that is asked of you is totally doable”

You don’t have to write lengthy articles to join the paper. Lizzy Ellis, a senior at Rhinebeck High School, has started a section of the paper that will showcase student artists. Lizzy’s idea is to support student artists by sharing their work through Rhinebeck Reality. For artists, this creates a great opportunity to share artwork, and to publish in the newspaper.

Joining the paper allows students the liberty of free press. If you are ever in need to express your opinions Rhinebeck Reality is the place for you. Being a part of the newspaper teaches good life skills, like sending a proper email, something every journalist does to set up an interview.

Rhinebeck Reality reports on anything from movie reviews to world wide issues.  We have writers who love to use their voice to enact change and some who just write for fun.

Check out our website throughout the year to find new faces and new articles!
