“The Fault in Our Stars” (2014) Review
The Fault In Our Stars tells a story about a 16-year-old thyroid cancer patient, Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley), who attends a cancer support group at her mother’s (Laura Dern) request. There, she meets Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort) who says that he has been in remission from osteosarcoma after having half of his right leg amputated, he now wears a prosthetic. Through a conversation between Augustus and Hazel, we learn that she was diagnosed at the age of 13 and completed all of the required treatment, but it wasn’t working. Her lungs began to fill with fluid but she was given a medication that worked miraculously, but she is now accompanied by an oxygen tank. They both share the same love for books and end up swapping their favorites. The two end up traveling and spending lots of time together as they live their unpredictable lives.
I would give this film a 7/10, it’s tragic and sad as it shows the moments Hazel and Augustus spent together for the brief moment they are here together.
