Heading into Spackenkill Wednesday, the Varsity Girls Soccer team sought to continue their strong start to the season.
Tied 1-1 at the end of the 2nd quarter, Rhinebeck was in territory that hadn’t been touched in 5 years, when they last beat Spackenkill.
After Rhinebeck tied it up to send it into overtime, Fiona Murray, who scored the opening goal, slotted a goal that sealed the win for Rhinebeck.
“It felt like a special moment,” said Murray.
“It was a very high point for me because I haven’t scored in a while.”
On the defensive end Olivia Pulver, Maddie Santoro, June Nathan, and Ellie Firestone held off the Spackenkill pressure while Sophia Scofield saved twelve shots.
