On October 10, Rhinebeck High School Student Council kicked off their Homecoming Weekend with their Bonfire event. It was a picturesque autumn night with stars in the sky and that little brisk breeze in the air. The bonfire event was full of food, drinks, and activities.
A Dunkin’ Donuts truck gave out free refresher samples and, unexpectedly, gift cards. The Frites of New York food truck sold a variety of fries and wings. Rhinebeck Crew sold burgers and hotdogs and Selene sold tamales, empanadas, and churros. The class councils sold a variety of things from merch to baked goods and hot chocolate. The ACT committee hosted a Diversity Hopscotch asking a variety of questions such as birthplace or favorite food. Rhinebeck Reality gave out their mini print edition on the members’ perspectives to situations; the responses were informative and well-detailed.
Shoutout goes to Brian Connolly and Lucas Terranova for structuring and putting up the fire. The fire,10 feet high, burned for 3 hours straight, giving off warmth, comfort and the occasional blue, green glow, thanks to colorful fire starters. It was a heartwarming and spirited night before the Homecoming Dance.
