She bites her tongue, holds her breath,
Every breath means life or death,
She is forced to rely not defy,
Now, she opens her eyes.
She’s greeted by the dark cloud,
Which lingers over her eyes,
She wouldn’t dare to try,
After all, in their world, she’s the bad guy.
She’s escorted to yet another place which denies her outright,
No light, no reality, no identity.
Accustomed to life without rights,
She resumes suffocating, without light.
But she has dreams, pushed down, suppressed,
Her days are spent fantasizing to have the same rights as you and I,
She is a statue, frozen without permission,
Blocked off from all corners of life.
She reminds herself “stay alive”,
Blinks, then breathes, as that’s all she can do,
Even her pet has more rights,
She can roam, speak, even pick a fight.
Weapons surrounding her make sweat,
Aimed at her, she feels the threat.
Silenced, stifled, secluded,
It’s another day seeing through the crystals in her eyes.
