“Gremlins” (1984) Review

The 1984 film Gremlins is a roller coaster of hilarious mischief. What’s supposed to be a cute gift turns out to be anything but that, with the supposedly well behaved “pets” wreaking havoc. This satirical and chaotic film has become a well known classic, with the great Steven Spielberg producing it. Randall Peltzer, an inventor, looked to buy his son a nice christmas gift. His good intentions to give his son a gift, and unawareness of the true nature of the “pets” he gifted could not have foreshadowed the events that followed. While some of its elements have not aged well when viewed in a modern perspective, the film never ceases to make laughs, and terror at once. The film alludes to some of Spielberg’s over work such as ET, and makes fun of America’s materialism.

All things considered, I rate Gremlins a 7/10.
