“Mandy” (2018) Review
A blood-badgering, neck-braking, head-swindling hippie cult has abducted the bride of Red Miller (Nicholas Cage), Mandy Bloom (Andrea Riseborough), in the highlands of the Pacific Northwest. After the encounter, Red is forced to begin vengeance among the sadistic cult. As we follow the story through dystopian-like settings mixed with many colors floating and drifting through the sky, we find a true evil presence in the horror that is visualized on screen.
I recommend this movie to anyone interesting in see a gory movie that has no filter, a fast pace, and holds a deep appreciation of Nicholas Cage films. The color in this movie makes the movie so memorable for me. The lighting would show one color that filled the whole frame of the scene with traces of darkness. The darks and lights and contrast and depth of the colors in the movie almost makes every scene feel hypnotic at times, making it unable to take your eyes off the screen.
