The Matrix(1999) is a classic and very renowned film. The Matrix is a must watch, especially now where new interest in artificial intelligence is rapidly growing. The Matrix is a world that humans perceive as the real world; however, in reality the real world is a giant prison for all humans to harvest their energy. The Matrix is often seen as a very intellectual film along with an action packed thriller. It is also home to a lot of iconic clips and ideas such as the main character (Neo) dodging bullets and the concept of the blue pill and the red pill. Another component that is referenced very often is “Waking up from the Matrix” which touches upon the idea that we are not living in reality. Overall, I would rate this film a 8.5/10 and even though it is rated R it feels more like a PG-13 film; therefore, I would recommend this for 15+.
