Drawdown Ecochallenge
Rhinebeck Environmental Clubs have created a team for the Drawdown EcoChallenge.
Drawdown is widely considered to be the most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse global warming. Written by American environmentalist Paul Hawken, Drawdown was the #1 Best-Selling Environmental Book of 2017, and the challenges are concise and easy to implement.
From April 3-24, teams from around the world will take part in challenges to reduce their carbon footprints and work into habit some of the easiest solutions to help combat global warming.
Anyone in our community can participate on the Rhinebeck team, from students to teachers to parents, anyone looking to help better their impact on the environment.
The challenges are broken into categories to help you to pick challenges that will most benefit our planet, including Social Justice, Transportation, Food, Materials, Woman and Girls, Buildings and Cities, Electricity Generation, and Land Use.
Each category contains various challenges to help reduce your impact on the planet. With so many fun and diverse challenges, there is certainly something for everyone.
The challenges span from one-time actions to daily acts allowing people to decide on their own commitment to the challenge.
At the end of the Challenge, the teams with the most points will win great prizes, including copies of Drawdown and bragging rights!
Hopefully, the challenge will help you to implement drawdown actions into your everyday life.
