Rhinebeck High School’s soccer legacy continues as Junior Varsity players earn the chance to shine on the Varsity stage during the postseason.
Coach Wiesenthal, the Varsity team’s coach, outlined the in-depth selection process for this impressive opportunity.
“At the end of each soccer season, we look to bring a few JV players up to the varsity level for postseason play,” Coach Wiesenthal stated.
Although they are alway looking for the hardest working kid on the team who can elevate others around them, the criteria that they look for can change year to year.
“We consider technical ability, skill, postseason commitment, and specific positional needs,” said Wiesenthal.
Selected players have the opportunity to join the Varsity team after a discussion with the coaching staff. This unique tradition not only showcases talent but also emphasizes Rhinebeck High School’s dedication to helping emerging athletes.
Seniority can affect the selection of the rosters; this factor is one of the main reasons for the post-season roster expansion.
As the season unfolds, Rhinebeck’s soccer community eagerly anticipates these young stars making their mark, carrying the school’s legacy forward.
