Kicking off this year’s Earth Day countdown, the RHS Environmental Club installed five new birdhouses around school grounds.

The birdhouses create a better environment for birds at the school and help increase our biodiversity.

Club President Kellianne Ticcony’s father built fifteen birdhouses out of wood, and the club spent a few weeks painting and decorating them with care. At various school functions, club members set up shop and sold ten of them to Rhinebeck bird enthusiasts.

The last five were hung outside the high school, offering some free real estate to the local bluebirds.

“The birdhouses create a better environment for birds at the school and help increase our biodiversity,” Kellianne Ticcony explains. “They also give students the awesome opportunity to watch birds grow up on school grounds.”
