RHS Drama Club Presents Almost Maine, Eight Compelling Tales Of Love

Robert Macdermott 10/3/19

On November 15th and 16th, 7:30 pm, RHS Drama Club will present John Cariani’s Almost Maine. The play, set in early 2000’s Maine, navigates the turbulent romances of several couples who are in various stages of falling in or out of love.
Ms. Baer, adviser of drama club and director of the fall play, carefully chose this intriguing piece. In an exclusive interview, she explained her methodical selection process: “I start out with reading plays during the summer, and I consider people in the club, the size and scope of the play, and then the time restriction and set.”
During auditions, Ms. Baer considered several aspects of a student thespian’s performance, including their maturity, enthusiasm, stage presence, and expression.
Though Ms. Baer was able to select a talented and energetic cast, she still foresees some challenges for the production. Ms. Baer anticipates that the set, particularly “snow scenes and the northern lights,” will be difficult to craft.
If you are interested in working on the set, Ms. Baer suggests that you join stage crew. Any student is welcome to participate in stage crew at any time. Go to room 151 to sign up. Rehearsal is on October 2rd, and set starts on October 19th.
Ms. Bear and the cast have dedicated their time and energy to ensure that the fall play will be a fantastic production – a production you won’t want to miss. Come to the RHS auditorium on November 15th or 16th, make a donation at the door, and bear witness to creative ingenuity at work.
