THE STATE OF THE SOPHOMORES: HOLIDAY 2020 EDITION

Shirts, Shirts, Shirts

Hello Fellow Sophomores,

I am very excited to introduce my first “State of the Sophomores” newsletter, detailing what to expect in the coming weeks, and what your officers have been currently working on.

It has been a strange fall season indeed, and it has definitely been a challenge for all of us.

With that being said, the Class Council of 2023 is hard at work, and as Winter Break fast approaches, we want to get the ball-rolling with our first event: The T-Shirt Contest.

The T-Shirt contest will run as follows:

  • We invite everyone within the sophomore class to submit their own, unique designs, front and back, for a shirt relating to our class. Designs must be school appropriate, and they can be done in any medium (paint, sketch, computer, etc.). The deadline for submissions is January 8th, 2020.
  • All submissions will be reviewed by Class Council officers and Dr. Davenport. After our review of the designs, you all have the opportunity to vote on what you want our class attire to look like. Obviously, the concept that wins the popular vote will be put on the shirts.
  • After the voting process, we will start pre-orders. If you would like to purchase a shirt, you must preorder it. More information on preorders will come after our design, company to work with, and price are determined. Come spring, you will be able to pick up your own Class of 2023 shirt in school.

I encourage everyone to purchase a shirt. Your purchase would not just ensure cool merchandise, but your payment would be saved for later class events, including our junior prom.

Besides our awesome contest, we have also been devising several fundraisers, mostly intended for the winter and spring. We will talk about these more as they come to fruition, but if you have any specific questions, I urge you to reach out to me, Finn, Brooke, or Emma.

As for socials, I am afraid that an in-person concept is hard to do at the moment due to the obvious elephant in the room. Nevertheless, virtual ideas are being worked on, and our fundraising will hopefully give us enough funds to save for later socials after the elephant has left (i.e. junior prom, as aforementioned).

If there are any questions whatsoever, from the shirt contest to pre-orders to other topics, please feel free to contact me at [email protected], and be sure to follow @rbkclassof2023 if you have an Instagram account for further notifications.

Along with my fellow officers, I want to wish you all a very Happy Holidays! Stay happy, healthy, and safe!

Sincerely,

Joe Hagerty
