“Promising Young Woman” (2020) Review
Cassandra Thomas (Carey Mulligan), deeply traumatized by her friend’s tragic death, seeks ultimate revenge. Living a double-life, Cassandra’s scheme involves going out to a club every night and feigning intoxication. Routinely, she is approached by a self proclaimed “nice guy” who takes her home in which she discloses that she is completely sober. Devious, and wickedly sharp, Cassandra dedicates herself to punishing the guilty. The 5 Oscar nominated film, scoring a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, digs deep into the mentally muddling consequences of rape.
This film is profoundly exceptional.
