“Erin Brockovich” (2000) Review

Erin Brockovich is a true story about an unemployed, rough-around-the-edges, single mom who rises above her tough luck and challenging circumstances to become the unlikely heroine for thousands of California families. Julia Roberts won an Oscar for her portrayal of sassy, sweet, and tough Erin, who finds work as a legal assistant and comes across some wrongdoing at a giant California corporation. Motivated by curiosity and a profound sense of right and wrong, Erin starts digging for evidence that will hold this company accountable. Along the way, she encounters resistance and danger from her snooping around the company and falls victim to gender stereotyping from some of the very people she’s trying to help.  In the end, Erin’s intelligence, compassion, and zeal for justice wins the day and surprises everyone who doubted her.

This movie is a dramatic tour de force containing a lot of humor and many moments that will bring a tear to your eye.

I recommend this film.
