“Minari” (2020) Review

Minari (2020), with great passion and warmth, tells the story of a Korean American family in 1980’s Arkansas. Academy Award Nominee, Director Lee Issac Chung perfectly captures the “American Dream” as it unravels for Jacob (Steven Yeun) and his family. His dream of farming Korean vegetables proves to be challenging, especially financially. The family both harnesses and battles against their Korean heritage, especially after an extended visit from their grandmother, Soonja (Youn Yuh-Jung). With excellent performances and an immersive storyline, the audience is reminded of one key theme: home is resilience and love.

I would rate this film a 9/10.
