“Remember the Titans” (2000) Review
Remember the Titans is a true story based on the 1971 Virginia State football champions from T.C Williams High School. At the newly desegregated High School in Alexandria, Virginia, a newly appointed African-American coach, Herman Boone (Denzel Washington), is hired to coach the school’s football team, the Titians. The film is seen through Boone’s eyes and is about the team’s struggles and gains over the season and all of the players that make up the team. Early on, tensions between the players arise and the players clash between racially motivated conflicts that Boone has to help resolve.
Overall, I would give Remember the Titans a 9/10 because of how it shows true topics like racism and how it gets you very invested in the players and team. Even two decades later topics presented in Remember the Titans still remain relevant and are still seen today. It’s not just a movie about football, it also tells a story about the human spirit.
