In the film Juno, Juno MacGuff, a Highschooler, finds herself pregnant. She chooses a couple who wants the baby, to adopt her unborn child. When the prospective father begins to view Juno as more than just the mother of his adopted child, complications occur and his marriage and the adoption process becomes complicated.
Juno’s main message is about love, relationships, and pre-adulthood. It sheds light on the meaning of life and growing up and what you choose to be in life. The main genre is a coming of age comedy. This film uses the use of light to evoke emotions from its viewers. For example, in one of the first scenes Juno walks into a convenience store to take a pregnancy test. In the scene, the sun is shining which displays happier emotions. At this point, the audience doesn’t know what’s going to happen. In the bathroom when taking the test, the lighting is dark and gloomy. With the use of the darker lighting, it shows negative thoughts with the character.
Honestly, anyone can enjoy this film. This film displays an underlying theme of pro adulthood which can spark interesting conversations between whoever watches it. While this movie illustrates important life messages and themes, it’s also just a funny and wholesome movie that can make anybody smile. My rating would be a 9/10.
