On October 19th, 2024 Rhinebeck had a successful homecoming dance. Thanks to the great help from Hillary Burton, we had our first ever themed homecoming. With a red carpet full of paparazzi, students and staff got to spend a night in Hollywood. Upon entering, attendees had to check in at the VIP table in order to walk the red carpet. Our very own auditorium hallway was draped ceiling to floor in red fabric, with a ‘Rhinebeck Hawks’ backdrop for pictures. Once pictures and interviews had taken place, students were encouraged to take a snack break in the green area. A green room is a place where overwhelmed actors or performers can catch a breather from the crowd; so the concession area was reserved as a makeshift version of this.
While the hallway was fully decked out in new decoration, the RHS gymnasium was still the main scene. Instead of half the gym being blocked off, we had the entire gym open to dancers, with the DJ placed in the center. This year, three disco balls were hung above the dance floor, adding shimmering lights to the mix. And to cover up the unappealing gym equipment and bleachers, black cloth created two walls along the entire edges of the room. Overall, it was a night full of dancing, chatting, and laughter. We are all so grateful as a school for the helping hands of Hillary Burton, as well as the entire PTSO. School spirit is trending, and will indefinitely continue.
